Mrs Carole Evans

Mrs Carole Evans the current Headmistress is retiring on the 31st August 2010 after 13 years of service to the school.

She has successfully maintained and improved the excellent academic reputation of the school and has led the school through a number of changes over the years, the most recent change being the transition of Birkenhead High school from an independent fee paying school to the first 3-19 all through Independent Girls' Academy in the country.

Her vision for the girls in the school has always been one of encouragement for every student to achieve their personal best and her support for all the extra curricular activities on offer in the school has allowed the girls to achieve this.

Mrs Evans will be greatly missed by staff, girls and parents of the school for the support and leadership she has provided over the years but we all wish her a long, healthy and happy retirement in the future.

Mrs Chris Mann will be taking over in September 2010 as the new Principal of Birkenhead High School and we look forward to welcoming her into our school community.

Welcome to Birkenhead High School's website. In September 2009, we opened our doors as an independent Academy. This transition has been an exciting time for the school and signals the next phase in our long history of commitment to excellence in education. We will continue to provide an outstanding education across all phases in all subjects, with mathematics and music being our two specialisms.

At Birkenhead High School we are committed to:

  • an accessible curriculum.
  • enabling early entry for examinations and providing programmes for the gifted and talented.
  • an ‘all-through’ education from Nursery to Sixth Form which gives your daughter the opportunity to develop in a warm, caring environment with a commitment to excellence.
  • building on a culture of high expectations, raising aspirations and the achievement of each pupil’s personal best.
