Birkenhead High School Academy celebrates another year of GCSE successes

Students and staff at Birkenhead High School Academy are celebrating an 84% pass rate at GCSE, of which 74% of students gained passes in both English and Maths, (A*-C in old grading system), representing a whopping increase on last year and over 10% higher than the national figures. Once again, very positive progress has been made by BHSA students.

Exceptional results were the order of the day for several pupils, including Katie Botting, who achieved outstanding results, with eight grade 9s and 2 grade 8s. Katie is continuing her studies here at BHSA, taking A levels in physics, chemistry, biology, maths and further maths.

Eleanor Wilson, a student at BHSA since she was 6, achieved fabulous results and is looking forward to studying art, production arts and health and social care at BHSA. Eleanor and her Mum were delighted with her achievements.

Another success story, one of so many, is Caitlin Brannon, with a host of grade 7s and 8s and is going on to study chemistry, biology, history and maths in the 6th form at BHSA.

Rebecca Mahony, Principal of Birkenhead High School Academy, said: “We are so proud of the girls and their GCSEs, which are the result of focused effort by them and their teachers. At BHSA we have high expectations and the girls have risen to meet them again this year!”
