  • CCF Camp Commendation

    Published 02/07/26

We are incredibly proud to share some fantastic feedback we received regarding our Birkenhead High School Academy CCF contingent during their recent annual camp at Barry Budden in Scotland!

Brigadier G A McDade, Deputy Commander Cadets, met our students and had some wonderful words to say about their attitude and dedication:

I was up in Scotland on Tuesday, and had the real pleasure of meeting the Birkenhead High School Academy CCF contingent at our camp in Barry Budden.  What a fabulous group of young women they were: polite, engaging, positive, really making the most of the opportunity afforded to them.  It was really pleasing to see that the contingent had decided to go a bit further afield for this year’s camp and the feedback I received was that the bus journey was worth it.  I didn’t meet all of the adult volunteers from the school, but I had good conversations with Michelle Ryan and Emily Guinness, both of whom made a real mark on me.  Absolutely committed to the CCF and the cadets within, I left with the impression of a CCF contingent that’s in good health, doing great things to set the next generation up for lifelong success.

My experience tells me that for CCF Contingents to be successful, it needs the buy-in from the school’s Senior Leadership Team. Thank you for your support to your CCF.  I know that there are many pressures you’re having to contend with, but having a CCF really does add to the fabric of a school, the benefits being felt more widely than simply the contingent.  Please keep supporting them, and enabling all aspects of the Cadet syllabus to allow your girls to thrive.

We are so proud of our cadets and deeply grateful to our team for making BHSA CCF such a vibrant, impactful part of our school community.
