BHSA Junior School Entrepreneurs Face the Dragons!

Innovation was in the air this week as students from Years 2 to 6 took part in our very own Dragon’s Den competition. Inspired by the popular TV programme—where budding entrepreneurs pitch their business ideas to a panel of wealthy investors—the challenge required our students to step into the spotlight and pitch their original concepts to our panel of "Dragons."
To reach this final stage, every student first pitched their concepts to their classmates. The ideas we saw in the final were the "best of the best," selected for their creativity, feasibility, and presentation.
The journey to the Den was no small feat. Our students worked tirelessly in teams to prepare, engaging in market research, careful costing, and the creation of physical prototypes to show the judges.
The range of creativity was truly impressive, featuring unique ideas such as:
- Worry Dolls: Lovely wooden decorated dolls designed for children to share their worries with.
- Parachute Cord Bracelets: Hand-crafted sliding knot bracelets made out of durable parachute cord
- Interactive Games: A "Play Your Cards Right" stall where winners can earn stationery prizes.
- Positive Pins: Custom badges featuring uplifting and positive messages.
Our panel of Dragons featured familiar faces from across the Academy, who asked insightful questions about budgets and branding. We would like to thank our Dragons for their time and expertise:
-
Senior School Dragons: Mrs de Boorder (Principal), Mrs Godwin, and Mr Douthwaite.
-
Junior School Dragons: Mrs Ramsbottom (Head of Junior School), Mrs Williams, and Mrs Wheatley.
What’s Next? The £5 Challenge
While the Dragons are still deliberating on the final scores, the stakes remain high! The winning teams will soon move on to the £5 Challenge. In this next stage, teams are given a small fund of £5 and tasked with launching their business for real, aiming to grow that initial investment into as much profit as possible.
We are incredibly proud of all our students for their hard work, resilience, and professional attitudes throughout the competition. Congratulations to everyone who took part.
