Rita's Reading Round Table
Our school community would like to honour the beautiful memory of Rita, our much-loved reading support dog, who worked with all students at BHSA from ages 3 to 19, nurturing confidence, calm, and a lifelong love of reading.
Rita played a truly special role in the lives of our students, staff and parents/carers. Whether supporting a young child taking their first steps in literacy or helping older students build confidence through reading, her gentle presence made a lasting difference across our whole school.
To commemorate her extraordinary contribution, we are fundraising to create a “Reading Round Table” memorial space in the school quad. This sustainable project will install tables made from recycled materials, providing a welcoming place for students to gather, read, and share books together, ensuring that Rita’s legacy continues to inspire future generations.
