School Garden and Allotment Update

Restoration work on our school garden and allotment space is really starting to take shape.
What we've achieved so far:
🌼 School Fair Flowers Growing Well
The Enrichment groups have the flowers coming along nicely and we hope to have plenty ready for the school fair. If anyone would like a little pre-sale, I am sure we will have a few spare.
🎨 Year 11 Mentors and Garden Crafts
Our Year 11 pupils have been busy overseeing and supporting younger students as they create items for the school fair. Together they have been making handmade wind chimes, fairy doors, coaster, garden decorations and many other creative projects. It's been fantastic to see the older pupils sharing their skills and encouraging younger students to get involved in the project.
🥔 Fruit and Vegetable Growing Underway
Potatoes, onions, tomatoes, beans and peas have all been started in beds and pots. Pupils have been involved in planting and caring for the crops as part of our "ground to plate" learning journey.
🏡 New Raised Bed Installed
The old shed has now been removed and a new raised bed has been installed, kindly funded by the PA. Aim is to get if filled before summer and turn it into a sensory bed.
🌸 Generous Donation from Tesco Rock Ferry
Tesco Rock Ferry have kindly donated flowers and seeds to support the project. Mrs Perry has been busy planting the flowers around the school to brighten up our grounds, while pupils have been planting the donated seeds.
🪑 DT Team Restoration Project
Team DT are just finishing off the restored garden benches and an old planter, helping to give new life to existing resources. This will make a massive difference to the space.
♻️ Eco Club Composting Mission
Our Eco Club continues to tackle the large amounts of dumped garden waste each week. Their hard work is helping us create space for a future composting area.
Thank you to everyone who has supported the project so far. We're excited to see what the coming months bring!
