Year 12 LEAD Project- Checkaboob

A massive congratulations to our Year 12 LEAD students on the incredible success of their social enterprise, Checkaboob.
Driven by a mission to promote female body positivity and smash the stigmas around discussing breast health, the team focused on a vital goal: saving lives through the early detection of breast cancer. By educating peers on often-missed symptoms and encouraging regular self-checks, they have equipped young women with life-saving knowledge.
Back in March, the team travelled to the London School of Economics to pitch their business to a panel of judges, competing against other GDST schools. Their innovative idea and profound social impact blew the judges away, earning them the highly coveted prize for Best Teamwork!
Closer to home, the team channelled their creativity into fundraising, raising an amazing £521.03 for Maggie's Wirral through tuck shops, raffles, and handmade crocheted items.
In a thank you note to the girls, Maggie's Wirral emphasised that the impact goes far beyond the money:
"What makes your work even more special is the awareness you are raising and the important conversations you are encouraging... This kind of impact will stay with people long after your initiative ends."
We are exceptionally proud of the BHSA LEAD team. Congratulations, Checkaboob!
