Academic Excellence: Celebrating Our Superb GCSE Success (2024/25)

We are delighted to celebrate the superb achievements of our Key Stage 4 students. Our GCSE results reflect the high academic standards, ambition, and hard work that define the Birkenhead High School Academy spirit.

Among the many highlights, 45.3% of our students secured a Grade 5 or above in both English and Mathematics, surpassing both local and national benchmarks.

Shaping Bright Futures:

• Fantastic Attainment: Our students achieved a wonderful Attainment 8 score of 50.5, reflecting high achievement across a broad and balanced mix of subjects.

• The EBacc Route: Our commitment to a rich curriculum shone through, with our students achieving a strong EBacc Average Point Score (APS) of 4.4. Furthermore, 19.7% of the cohort achieved a Grade 5 or above across the demanding full suite of EBacc subjects.

• Value-Added Progress: True to our mission of helping every individual thrive, our latest validated progress tracking shows our students performing significantly above national expectations, adding incredible value to their academic journeys from where they started.

To our GCSE students: your determination, maturity, and focus have been inspiring. These results open the doors to the next exciting phase of your education, and we look forward to welcoming many of you back into our Sixth Form!

High Aspirations, Bright Futures: Celebrating Sixth Form Triumph (2024/25)

We are delighted to congratulate our Sixth Form students on another year of exceptional A-Level and Level 3 results. As an academy, we aim to inspire confidence and ambition, and our Year 13 leavers have truly embodied these values.

Our students achieved a brilliant Average Points Score (APS) of 35.06, keeping us right at the forefront of regional academic performance.

Headline Achievements:

• Top Tier Grades: An incredible 50% of all academic exam entries were graded at A to B*, with 20% of all entries hitting the very highest A to A marks*.

• Destinations of Choice: Our students continue to step boldly into the world. 69% of our Year 13 leavers progressed directly into higher education or training.

• Russell Group Success: We are exceptionally proud that 27% of our university-bound students secured places at the UK’s top-third higher education institutions (including Russell Group universities)—thoroughly outperforming both local (23%) and national (19%) averages.

We are also very pleased with our student's Maths Progress Measure of 0.7 which is significantly above national average. 

Whether heading to prestigious universities, beginning competitive higher apprenticeships, or entering the workforce, our leavers leave us as independent, empowered global citizens. Congratulations to the Class of 2025—your future is incredibly bright!
